PCA LoveHeart Tool

The LoveHeart tool is a new member to our Fine Perforator range and is a pretty and decorative one to add to any romantic or feminine project. Don't limit it to use on parchment only, it makes a great chain of heartshapes around a photo or frame in scrapbooking on paper or cardstock.

Note before use on parchment vellum: It is a tool that has many needles arranged in a concentrated area, to get a good heart shape and as such must be treated with care and consideration when using. Remember there is a lot of downward force on a small area of parchment when perforating and the aim is to minimise the effects of that by being very gentle.

It's easy though!  The best thing to do when using the LoveHeart is to mark where you want to put your LoveHeart perforations before you remove your pattern ( if using one) and make the LoveHeart perforations AFTER.

  • Ensure you are peforating only ONE layer of paper at a time.
  • Perforate ONCE VERY LIGHTLY to establish the position of the LoveHeart shapes then reperforate again afterward to enhance the shape and depth of the needle holes made.
  • DON'T punch out the shape in ONE movement... too much force can cause the bonds between the needles to break and spoil the clarity of the shape.

Having fun with the LoveHeart tool is going to be easy! Here are a few examples of the way in which you might like to incorporate it into your projects...

These 2 ways of "chaining" the heart shapes together like daisy chains are useful for using as stripes or borders around a frame, an object ( of any shape) or a border around a card's edge.

Fill hearts from reverse after positioning end to end with SmallBall embossing ( no pattern needed)

Emboss dots inbetween chained LoveHearts with a small gap between each using your MediumBall embosser ( no pattern required)

Now try a small motif useful for adding to the corners of card projects for example, when the border is perhaps a chain of filled LoveHearts?

Any number of variations can be made on this theme by changing the positioning of the shapes and the embossing, maybe use a SunTool impression in the centre instead?

How about a freehand "BUNCH OF LOVE"?

This was made by creating filled LoveHearts in a random spray and filling with SunTool "gypsophila" around them and using your PCA Scriber to etch the stems and ribbon details from the reverse side.   This would look lovely as a project done with  small "Bunches of Love" scattered at different angles around the front cover of a card with an oval cut out on it's centre, just as a pretty "wallpaper like" background for the card.   Use your imagination... freehand like this is EASY, honestly... and makes your projects individual and uniquely YOURS!

Have fun!  Coming later next month... September 2003... the PCA CrescentTool, so look out for that!
